Global Money Week 2019: contribution of Kompanion Bank to improving financial literacy of kids

From 8 to 14 April in Kyrgyzstan was conducted Global Money Week under the slogan “Learn. Save. Earn”, which is coordinated by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Kompanion Bank gives special attention to improving the financial literacy of population of Kyrgyzstan on a going basis. In the framework of the Global Money Week, Bank’s team had conducted financial literacy trainings in 70 schools in all seven regions of the country. Schoolchildren learned about importance of wise money management, about planning their incomes, and about methods of money saving.

Kompanion Bank financed printing of educational and methodological complexes “Key to financial independence” for students of 5-11 grades in association with other financial institutions. Educational and methodological complex was developed by the Development Policy Institute and the Foundation Supporting Educational Initiatives. Kompanion Bank’s team presented certificates for 25 sets of educational and methodological complexes to directors of 10 regional schools in Osh, Batken, Jalal-Abad, Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.

Also an intellectual game for students - Case Battle on the subject “Financial services through messengers and chat bots” took place in Bishkek in the framework of Global Money Week. Students were divided into groups and for 45 minutes were brainstorming on a given topic, they wrapped up in the tasks of the financial institution during the event. After that all teams presented their ideas, and the team which offered the best ideas received valuable prizes from Kompanion Bank.

Contests on the topic of savings were held in social networks of the Bank. Valuable prizes will be granted to winners by Kompanion Bank - branded clay moneyboxes in the form of a yurt.

Global Money Week is an annual educational campaign for attraction of children and youth to the issues of money, income and entrepreneurship, initiated by the  Child & Youth Finance International network.
