CHAIRPERSON OF THE BOARD

Stephen has 30 years of domestic and international finance experience, and has worked extensively in the private sector for major U.S. financial and public accounting institutions, including U.S. Bank and Price Waterhouse Coopers. He has served as Chairman of XacBank, one of Asia's most successful commercial microfinance organizations, and is an advisor on microfinance matters around the world. Stephen received his MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of California at Irvine and his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Treasury Professional.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, GREEN MOUNTAIN COLLEGE

Robin Currey is an ethnoecologist specializing in biodiversity conservation in small-scale agricultural systems, or home gardens. Robin has over ten years of experience in interdisciplinary research focusing on the effective use of natural resources with the implementation of sociological, anthropological, archaeological, ecological and economic approaches. In 2013, Dr. Currey joined the faculty of Green Mountain College as an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Food Systems after serving as Country Director, Mercy Corps Kyrgyzstan. Prior to joining Mercy Corps, she was a Fulbright Scholar and a fellow of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Science to Achieve Results. Robin is the Science Advisor to Kompanion Bank, supporting its development initiatives.

Rosanna Sarkeyeva has more than 20 years of work experience out of which 15 years are in the financial sector. Educated in macroeconomics, banking and energy economics, she has been working at various positions in commercial and central banks, as a banking advisor and currently as an investment manager. Her expertise includes acquisitions, implementation and structuring investments (private equity, debt, mezzanine), in financial institutions (FIs) in emerging markets; portfolio and risk management, corporate governance and sustainable banking. Beyond that she has in-depths knowledge of economics of transition economies; energy economics; strong qualitative and quantitative economic analysis skills; her academic achievements include PhD in Economics and MA in Banking both from the University of Reading (UK), MA in Economics from the National State University of Kyrgyzstan (with honours). Rosanna has worked at both emerging markets (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan) and developed economies (Netherlands, U.K., Belgium, Switzerland). She possesses strong interpersonal and language skills (English, Russian, Dutch, Kyrgyz, Kazakh) and is experienced in working in a multicultural environment.

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, PACIFIC CONTINENTAL BANK, US

Having recently joined Pacific Continental Bank as executive vice president and chief nonprofit and sustainability officer, Mark most recently served as president and CEO of Capital Pacific Bank. Mark has more than 30 years of experience in commercial banking, credit management and corporate finance at financial institutions such as U.S. Bank, Piper Jaffray and Security Pacific Bank. Mark is a director at “I Have a Dream” Oregon and Kompanion, Mercy Corps’ microfinance institution in Kyrgyzstan. He is a past member of the FDIC Advisory Committee on Community Banking and is a past chair of the Oregon Bankers Association. Mark is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Stanford University with a degree in economics and Spanish.

STEFAN MARIO QUECK

CONSULTANT, SELF-EMPLOYED

Stefan has over 25 years of banking and finance experience, including financial consulting. He started from International Projekt Consult, Germany, that provides consultancy, advisory and institutional development services to banks and other financial institutions in transition economies and developing countries and worked in top international banks and financial corporations, such as ProCredit Holding, Germany, and Inter-American Development Bank, USA. Stefan has served as Regional Director Latin-America in FINCA International/FINCA Micro Finance Holding. He received his MBA in Economics from Freie Universitaet, Germany. At the present moment, Mr. Queck is an international financial consultant.

 

RUSLAN AKMATBEKOV

RUSLAN AKMATBEKOV

Ruslan Akmatbekov is a banking expert with 20 years of experience in Kyrgyz banking sector. He chaired the executive body of RSK Bank for more than 12 years. Under his command, the savings and settlements company was transformed into a banking institution with a wide range of retail operations and the largest branch network. He worked in the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic for eight years, where he headed the Banking Supervision Department and the Finance Department. Ruslan chaired the Supervisory Board of the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan for four years. In 2012, he was a Chair of the Interbank Association Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Ruslan holds an honorary degree of a Merited Economist of the Kyrgyz Republic.
